PARTNERSHIP
If two or more than two persons agree to start a business jointly then the persons are called partners and this dealing is called partnership.
Partnership is of two kinds :
I. Simple Partnership --- When the capital of partners are invested for the same time, then this type of partnership is called simple partnership. In such a case the profit or loss is distributed in proportional to the capital invested.
II. Compound Partnership ---- When the capital which is equal or unequal,
of the partners are invested for different times, this type of partnership is called compound partnership. In such a case profit or loss is distributed in proportional to the products of the capital and the periods of their investments.
NOTE : Sleeping partner--- A sleeping partner only provides capital for the business whereas a working partner not only provides capital for the business but also takes part in the management of the business.
An important formula for solving the problems of partnership is :
If A and B are two partners then
Capital of A * time invested in the capital of A Profit of A
______________________________________________ = ___________
Capital of B * time invested in the capital of B Profit of B
Example 1
If Naveen and vikash start a business. Naveen invests Rs.1000 for 8 months
and vikash Rs. 1,500 for 6 months. they gain Rs 340. what is vikash's share?
Solution :
Naveen puts Rs. 1000 for 8 months. If he wants to have same amount of profit as before in one month he has to increase his investment 8 time
He must invest Rs. 8,000 for 1 month.
Similarly Vikash must also invest Rs. 6 *1500 Rs. i.e 9000 for 1 month
Hence Rs.340 must divided in the ratio of
8000 : 9000 or 8 : 9
Example 2
If Sanjay and vinod are two partners. If Sanjay puts in Rs. 400 for 12 months, how mush Vinod's capital must be used for 8 months so that the profits may be divided in the ratio 2:1 ?
Solution :
Sanjay's investment for 1 month in order to have the same profit as before =Rs 400 * 12=RS. 4,800
Now profits are distributed in 2 :1
Example 3
Ajay, vijay and Anand started a shop by investing Rs. 2,700, Rs. 8,100 and Rs. 7,200 respectively. At the end of the one year , the profit was distributed. If vijay's share was Rs 3600. What their total profit ?
Solution :
Ajay : Vijay : Anand = 2700 : 8100 : 7200 = 3 : 9 : 8
Vijay = 9 = 3600 3+9+8=20
20=
=Rs. 8000 Ans.
=Rs. 8000 Ans.Example 4
A, B and C rented a video cassette for one week at a rent of Rs. 350. If they use it for 6 months , 10 months and 12 months respectively. what is the rent to be paid by C's ?
Solution :
A : B : C = 6 :10 :12 = 3 : 5 : 6
3+5+6=14
C's amount =
= Rs.150 Ans.
= Rs.150 Ans. Example 5
A and B entered into partnership with capitals in the ratio of 4 and 5. After three months A withdrew
of his capital and B withdrew
of his capital. The gain at the end of 10 months was Rs. 760. Find their shares of profit.
of his capital and B withdrew
of his capital. The gain at the end of 10 months was Rs. 760. Find their shares of profit.Solution :
Suppose A invests Rs. 4 and B invests Rs.5
Money withdrawn by A=
=Re 1.
=Re 1. Money withdrawn by B=
=Re 1.
=Re 1. Calculating equivalent capital for 1 month for each we have
A's capital = Rs. (4 * 3 + 3 * 7) = Rs. 33
B's capital = Rs. (5* 3 + 4 * 7) = Rs. 43
Ratio of the capital = 33 : 43
A's share = Rs.
=Rs. 330
=Rs. 330 B's share = Rs.
=Rs. 430
=Rs. 430
